Welcome to my world, where Yorkshire landscapes, florals, and mixed media art meet paint, paper, and a constant urge to create.

I’m Leia, also known as Yorkshire Artist, a mixed media artist, print designer, and art teacher based in York. I grew up in Huddersfield, studied in Manchester at Manchester School of Art, and now live in York — places that continue to inspire my creative practice and artistic style.

​

I graduated in 2019 with a First-Class Honours degree in Print Design from Manchester School of Art. Since then, I’ve worked with brands such as Marks & Spencer and completed an internship with Karolina York in Australia, experiences that continue to influence my approach to contemporary art, surface pattern design, and illustration.

​

At the moment, I’m on maternity leave. My son, who I often refer to as my “tiny human” on social media, arrived in January. I’ll be returning to teaching in January 2027. During this time, I’m focusing on developing my art practice, creative business, and online art shop, making it more sustainable alongside teaching life.

​

My work focuses on florals, landscape artwork, sketchbook practice, and mixed media experimentation. I am particularly known for my floral and landscape tile designs, which have become a recognisable part of my work and are popular with collectors. Much of my inspiration comes from nature, Yorkshire scenery, wild swimming, hiking, and time outdoors.

Back in the studio, I translate these moments into layered contemporary mixed media paintings, sketchbook pages, and pattern-based artwork, focusing on colour, texture, and repetition. My work aims to capture the feeling of a place rather than just its appearance.

​

I share my work and process across all social media platforms, where I connect with other artists, creatives, collectors, and art lovers.

​

I am also open to commissions, collaborations, and creative projects, including bespoke artwork and design work.

​

I also run workshops and share my process, encouraging others to explore their creativity through sketchbook practice and mixed media art without pressure or perfection.
